Welcome to the American Heart Association’s
Virtual Yappy Hour!

We’re delighted to be part of MarinHealth’s Grand Opening, working together to make a positive impact on the health of every individual so that they may live longer, healthier lives.

One of the beliefs we share is the importance of Pet Therapy on a person’s overall wellbeing. We know that a bond with a pet contributes to happy minds and healthy hearts—and this has been particularly true during these recent months when we’ve all been feeling disconnected from friends, families, and activities we love.

And, you may know from personal experience, it’s impossible for anyone to pet a dog, or even just share a story about one, without breaking into a smile.

There’s an absolutely PAWSitive reason for this!

Studies have shown that engaging with dogs and other pets can boost the body’s production of “happy hormones” such as oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine. This increase contributes to a sense of wellness and serenity, while tamping down levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

Besides the obvious value of a good snuggle, studies have shown pet ownership may help increase fitness levels, relieve stress, lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and boost overall happiness and well-being. Pets also provide social support, which is an important factor in helping you stick with new healthy habits.

You and your family can experience this special kind of happy during the American Heart Association’s Virtual Yappy Hour–a celebration of the benefits of pet companionship and its PAWsitive effects on heart health and overall wellbeing.

So welcome to Yappy Hour! Please explore our virtual booth experience and find out just how much pet ownership can make your heart happy.
